Ink cartridges for inkjet printers
Repair or Replace an inkjet printer?

A number of our customers ask us what is best – original or compatible?

The short answer to this is that it depends. With original toners you know exactly what you are going to get as they have been manufactured according to strict quality controls. If you buy compatible inks through the inks you will never know how they are made. In the industry there are companies known as “drill and fill” which is as grim as it sounds – people working out of a shed / small unit with a drill and a drum of ink filling up empty cartridges with a funnel.

Due to the revenues involved there are a lot of professional operations with massive warehouses producing compatible ink cartridges on an industrial scale ensuring that their products adhere to the latest quality and environmental standards. As PPL offers a no quibble guarantee on every cartridge that we sell it means that we only supply inks that we know have a very low failure rate.

The other thing to take into consideration is the age of your machine. Although the manufacturers are not allowed to deny you warranty if you use compatible toners they can make it very difficult for you if you do. If you think that at some point your device is going to fail and you need to call upon the manufacturer to provide an engineer then you should go for original inks. However, for canny buyers they realise that buying occasional Adhoc call from a PPL engineer is cheaper than the cost of buying original toners.

So our advice would always be to consider taking the compatible option. We provide our no quibble guarantee on our inks because we know that they have been manufactured correctly.
